The Environmental Conservation and Management major prepares the next generation of leaders with the knowledge, ability, and excellence to conserve and manage our natural systems for a sustainable future. The degree is an innovative interdisciplinary combination of social and ecosystem sciences, structured to generate critical thinking and problem-solving skills necessary to address the many challenges of complex natural resources issues to achieve society’s goals and sustain natural systems.
Depending on a student’s career goals, they will choose from one of the nine Environmental Conservation and Management minors available in the college, such as Coastal Management, Environmental Law, Nature-based Recreation, Watershed Sciences, or Natural Resources Ecology; or another minor offered on campus, such as business, communications, fisheries, geography, sociology, foreign language, or sustainability. They can also choose to pair the major with the new Tropical Conservation and Sustainable Development in Costa Rica study abroad minor offered during the summer semester.
