Welcome!
The College of Forestry, Wildlife and Environment is a flagship institution and the backbone of Alabama’s $34 billion+ forest, wildlife, and natural resources-related enterprises, a significant component of the State’s economic and employment fabric. With world-class faculty and staff, state-of-the-art labs, field sites, and other infrastructure -combined with the unwavering support of its alumni, stakeholders, and friends -the College aspires to become a top-ranked natural resources institution in the nation and world.
Since 2015, the College has undergone many changes that have ushered in a period of growth and excellence. Building upon its academic and research programs, the School has launched several new multi-disciplinary degree programs to produce professionals with advanced knowledge and skills to serve established and emerging enterprises. In recent years, we have hired several tenure-track faculty whose expertise ranges from biomaterials and packaging, conservation governance, and geospatial technologies to forest ecology and population genomics. We have also recruited several professors of practice to expand our instruction capacities and student advisement services. Additionally, our leadership has also evolved to include representatives from government and agencies, as well as private businesses and major corporations who bring their expertise and unique perspectives to our governance and curricula.
As a public land-grant institution, the College is dedicated to fostering diversity and inclusion in all facets of its mission of education, discovery, extension and outreach. In support of our diverse employee and student populations, we feel it is important to commit to understanding, accepting, and valuing our differences to ensure a respectful and inclusive learning environment.
As we celebrate the 75th Anniversary of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences at Auburn in 2021, we reflect on its past and collectively embrace its future with the core values of excellence, inclusion, and connectivity as the cornerstone from which we will advance the College’s critical mission. We will continue to create tomorrow’s professionals and thought leaders, develop new knowledge and science-based solutions to emerging and complex natural resource issues, and improve the social, economic, and environmental well-being of citizens in Alabama and beyond.
