INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON FOREST CARBON & RESILIENCE

The International Conference on Forest Carbon & Resilience (ICFCR) is presented by the Auburn University College of Forestry, Wildlife and Environment to expand knowledge within the areas of forest-based carbon and resilience, the role of forests and forest products in carbon storage and sequestration, and the resistance, adaptation, and resilience of forests in changing environments. The conference will take place at The Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center in Auburn, Alabama, USA, from September 29 – October 1, 2025.

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

The organizing committee of the International Conference on Forest Carbon and Resilience is pleased to announce a Call for Abstracts.

CONFERENCE THEMES

The theme of this conference is forest-based carbon sequestration and forest resilience to changing environments and disturbance regimes, namely, (1) the role of forests and forest products in carbon storage and sequestration, and (2) the resistance, adaptation, and resilience of forests in changing environments.

Within these two broad themes, topics covered in this conference include, but are not limited to:

  • Forest carbon markets (compliance, voluntary, and in-house corporate)
  • Forest carbon programs
  • Forest measurements, and new tools and emerging geospatial technologies for
accurate carbon measurement across multiple scales
  • Forest management that contributes carbon sequestration and forest resilience
  • Landowner behavior in response to forest carbon market development and other initiatives
  • Life-cycle analysis of forests and forest products that store carbon and contribute to climate mitigation
  • Government and non-government programs that incentivize forest landowners to practice climate-smart forestry
  • Corporate ESG requirements as related to forest carbon offsets
  • Forest deterioration and loss due to wildfires, pests, pathogens, and invasive
    species
  • Forest resistance, adaptation, and resilience to weather events
  • Silvicultural tools to enhance the resilience of forests to changing environments
  • Cross-country (region) analysis of forest carbon sequestration and forest resilience

Abstracts for panel, concurrent and poster sessions should be limited to 300 words each and will be accepted until May 1, 2025. Authors will be informed if their presentation is accepted by June 1. The registration deadline for presenting authors of accepted abstracts is August 1.

A compilation of papers presented at this conference will be submitted to a reputable scientific journal for publication.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION AND INFORMATION CONTACT

Abstract submissions and questions regarding the conferences should be directed to Heather Alexander at 334-844-1040 or via email at hda0010@auburn.edu.
