Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteering within the College of Forestry, Wildlife and Environment is an excellent way for students to gain valuable hands-on learning experience, develop new friendships, enhance their leadership skills, build their resumes, and network with future employers and industry professionals.
Under the supervision of faculty, the College of Forestry, Wildlife and Environment offers undergraduate students opportunities to gain valuable experience assisting with research. Students may assist faculty and graduate students to locate and manage project sites, collect, analyze, and catalog field data to test research hypotheses, and develop publications and materials to communicate scientific results.
CFWE students may also enjoy volunteering at the Kreher Preserve and Nature Center (KPNC), the school’s outreach program serving Auburn and surrounding communities. The 120 acre-property, located on N. College Street in Auburn, features marked trails, educational kiosks, demonstration gardens, a historic homestead, and improved facilities including a pavilion and amphitheater. At the KPNC, student volunteers might lead hikes, assist with educational and community programs, serve as day camp counselors, develop interpretive signage, maintain trails, or learn different aspects of nature center operations.
IMPACT is Auburn University’s largest year-round community service organization with almost 10,000 volunteer hours completed during the 2019-2020 academic year. The 70+ Project Coordinators lead service projects at 15 different project sites each week. All Auburn students are encouraged to volunteer. Each semester, IMPACT releases a schedule displaying the times and locations at which Project Coordinators volunteer each week. To volunteer, students simply pick a project that works with their schedule and show up at the project site listed on the schedule.
