Alumni & Friends Events

Alumni Homecoming Barbecue

SFWS hosts this fun homecoming event each year for alumni to meet and socialize with their fellow alum, faculty, and staff; while enjoying a barbecue, music and lawn games on the school’s patio.

Compass Circle Dean’s Roundtable

Members of the Compass Circle, a new young alumni giving society created for alumni to re-connect and support the school during the first 15 years after graduation, are invited to participate in a round table discussion with the SFWS Dean, Janaki Alavalapati to discuss current events impacting the school.

Dean’s Tailgate

The Dean’s Tailgate is hosted each year for donors and members of the Woodlands & Wildlife Society and Compass Circle giving clubs. During the tailgate, attendees enjoy food and fellowship with the dean, administrators, and faculty.

Golden Eagles Alumni Luncheon

Hosted by the SFWS current and emeritus deans, the Golden Eagles luncheon is held annually to honor alumni who graduated 50 years ago or more.  The event provides a venue for the alumni to reconnect with the school and share news about their lives and careers with their fellow graduates.

Student Awards Banquet

Each spring the School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences hosts a ceremony and dinner to recognize the outstanding achievements of students, faculty and alumni who, through the generosity of our alumni and friends, are selected to receive merit and financial awards. Parents of student recipients are also invited to attend.

Scholarship & Fellowship Recognition Luncheon

The School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences awards more than 80 scholarships and fellowships, totaling over $270,000, to students pursuing degrees in forestry, wildlife sciences, and natural resources management. Student recipients and their donors are invited to the annual recognition luncheon, hosted each fall, to honor the benefactors and students receiving awards.

Woodlands & Wildlife Society Dinner

Members of the Woodlands and Wildlife Society are invited to this annual dinner to socialize and hear an update from the dean about the school’s current events.
