The Auburn University School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences is reaching out to connect with its alumni and friends from across the state. Over the summer, the school hosted three special events in the cities and surrounding areas of Andalusia, Monroeville and Montgomery, Alabama, where Dean Janaki Alavalapati provided an overview of the school’s activities and his plans for its future.

The school’s development director, Heather Crozier, envisions these events as a catalyst to increase alumni engagement with the school.

“These events are excellent opportunities to connect with our alumni and friends while keeping them updated on the vision and priorities of the school. It also provides a valuable forum to ask questions, share opinions or give feedback,” Crozier said.

The reception attended by 33 guests in Monroeville was held at the Vanity Fair Golf Club and jointly sponsored by Harrigan Lumber Company and Ziebach and Webb Timber Company. The luncheon in Andalusia was attended by 25 guests and was hosted at the Andalusia Area Chamber of Commerce in the Martha Dixon Community Room and sponsored by First South Farm Credit. The Montgomery event, held downtown at The Tavern, was sponsored by Alfa Insurance.

Crozier also has plans for more events in the future. “In 2020, we will host events in Mobile, Birmingham, Huntsville and Tuscaloosa, as well as Atlanta, Georgia,” she said.

Anyone interested in attending and/or sponsoring one of these events should contact Sharon Tatum at sfwsdevelopment@auburn.edu or call 334-844-1983. Visit the website, cfwe.auburn.edu, for more information.
