Water & Soils

Faculty research at the CFWE is addressing a wide array of regional and national water and soil issues. Our research is often interdisciplinary and purposely designed to solve societal issues involving water and soil management.  We employ both field and computational methods to meet research goals and advance our knowledge. Specific research topics have included stormwater management, urban soil biogeochemistry, watershed modeling, wetland and floodplain biogeochemistry and hydrology, forest management practices and policies for soil and water, and sustainable river flows.  Our faculty and students use a wide array of research methods and technologies including laboratory analyses, geographic information systems, remote sensing, water sensors and data loggers, automated water samplers, and advanced modeling tools to solve cutting-edge research questions.
