AFRICAN AMERICAN ALUMNI ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP
Fully endowed by alumni, partners, and friends in June 2016, the scholarship was first awarded for the academic year 2017-2018. The scholarship has been awarded annually thereafter. This endowment was established in 2015 by African American alumni of the College of Forestry, Wildlife and Environment to increase the level of diversity within Auburn University and the college. May there be many more that follow in the footsteps of the first African American graduate of the School of Forestry, Mr. Ernest Boyd ‘76.
HISPANIC ALUMNI ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP
This permanent endowment was established in 2023 by Erica M. Santana and Sebastian D. Rodriguez for the purpose of providing scholarships for underrepresented students in the College of Forestry, Wildlife and Environment. Their personal experiences and unique academic journeys compelled them to sponsor and support this opportunity for other Hispanic and Latino students with the belief that the field of natural resource management benefits from the unique voices of diverse practitioners and the values they bring to the discipline.
MINORITIES IN AGRICULTURE, NATURAL RESOURCES AND RELATED SCIENCES (MANRRS) ENDOWED FUND FOR EXCELLENCE
This endowment was established in honor of former MANRRS Faculty Advisor Dr. Brenda M. Allen ‘97, Extension Specialist and Assistant Professor of Urban Forestry, upon the occasion of her retirement in December 2018. Established by friends, faculty and alumni of the College of Forestry, Wildlife and Environment, the fund will provide sustaining support to the Auburn University Chapter of MANRRS for its core missions and operations within the school.
RESOURCE MANAGEMENT SERVICE ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP
In order to increase the level of diversity in the forest industry, Resource Management Service has created this scholarship to alleviate the financial burden of pursuing a college education. In 1950, John M. Bradley, a young Yale University graduate, partnered with Harry E. Murphy, a graduate of Pennsylvania State University, to create Resource Management Service. From its beginnings as a consulting firm to private landowners, RMS capitalized on changing industry dynamics and proved itself as an important timberland management and acquisitions firm. By advancing the state of the art in timberland investment management, RMS has grown into an accomplished global firm with assets under management on four continents-North and South America, Asia, and Oceania-while remaining a private, employee-owned company.
CHARLES BARKLEY FOUNDATION FELLOWSHIP
Charles Barkley, the legendary NBA Hall of Famer who began his path to glory as a star player on Auburn’s basketball team in the 1980s, created his namesake foundation to support causes close to his heart. A longtime supporter of his alma mater, Barkley established the Charles Barkley Foundation Annual Fund for Excellence to strengthen the university’s relationships with Historically Black Colleges and Universities, or HBCUs. The Charles Barkley Foundation aims to build bonds between HBCUs and the major programs of large universities to attract students from HBCUs to pursue their graduate degrees at Auburn. With these funds, the College of Forestry, Wildlife and Environment has established the Charles Barkley Foundation Fellowship. The fellowship gives preference to qualifying students who have graduated with an undergraduate degree from an HBCU. Other factors for selection include applicants’ socioeconomic background and whether they grew up in a highly rural or underserved area.
