Paul Pinyan is the executive director of the Alabama Farmers Federation and general manager of Alabama Farm Bureau Services, Inc. As executive director, he oversees the Federation and its affiliates' staff, programs, and finances. He also assists the Federation and Alfa Insurance president with the promotion of agriculture through policy implementation, public relations, education, leadership development, and member services.

Pinyan joined the Federation staff in 1998 as an area organization director. In 2000, he moved to the Department of Governmental Affairs as agriculture and environmental legislation director. He was named assistant department director in 2004 and was promoted to director in 2007. He held that position until his appointment to executive director in 2010.

Prior to his career with the Federation, Paul worked 10 years as a youth and adult livestock programs agent with the Alabama Cooperative Extension System.

Pinyan earned his bachelor’s degree in animal and dairy science from Auburn University, a master’s degree in agribusiness education from Alabama A&M University, and a juris doctorate from Faulkner University’s Jones School of Law.

A native of Holly Pond in Cullman County, Pinyan developed his love for agriculture on his family’s cattle and poultry farm. He began showing 4-H Club calves at age nine and won numerous honors, including being elected a state FFA officer.

Pinyan serves as treasurer of the Alabama FFA Foundation and the North Alabama Agriplex and is on the boards of directors of the Alabama Farmers Agriculture Foundation, Farm Bureau Bank, Southeastern Livestock Exposition, and Montgomery Chamber of Commerce. He also serves on the advisory boards for UAB Medical School Montgomery Campus and Baptist Medical Center South.

Pinyan and his wife Kristie live in Tallapoosa County and have two sons, Andrew and Will.
