Grace Goldsby, a graduating senior in wildlife ecology and management, from Huntsville, Alabama, has been chosen to lead the Auburn University College of Forestry, Wildlife and Environment (CFWE) class of 2025 at Auburn’s fall commencement ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 13.

Growing up immersed in nature, Goldsby developed a deep appreciation for wildlife and the environment. Those early experiences inspired her academic journey, leading her to pursue a major in Wildlife Ecology and Management—a field that allowed her to broaden her understanding of animal populations and the ecosystems that sustain them.

“I wanted to pursue wildlife ecology and management because of my upbringing; growing up spending a lot of time outdoors with my family led me to develop a deep passion for nature conservation,” Goldsby said “I have always loved animals, and this major allowed me to learn about ways to sustain animal communities and their habitats.”

Goldsby’s involvement during her time at Auburn spans many different areas. As a student ambassador for the CFWE, she acted as a representative of the college, supporting events and providing tours for potential students. She also served as   an undergraduate research assistant where she participated in the work of the Forest Health Dynamics Laboratory.

“Being at Auburn has brought me so much personal and professional development,” Goldsby said. “While being a student here, I have made lifelong friends and connected with people who I never would have otherwise. Professionally, being a part of the CFWE has enabled me to make invaluable connections with professors and faculty. They have introduced me to different opportunities to become involved on campus like becoming a student ambassador and joining a research lab. Overall, my experience at Auburn has equipped me to be successful after graduation, taking memories and knowledge with me.”

Reflecting on her time spent at Auburn, Goldsby is thankful for the personal and professional development, connections and opportunities that have been encouraged and granted to her by faculty and staff of the CFWE. Upon graduation, she is planning to pursue a master’s degree in wildlife ecology or forest health.

Auburn will begin its graduation weekend at Neville Arena at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13. For more details, including updates on any potential weather-related changes, please visit the commencement website. Information will also be shared on the university’s social media platforms.
