Dr. Richard W. Brinker served as dean from 1998 to 2011. He is shown in the newly constructed Forestry and Wildlife Sciences Building in 2005.
Auburn University will host a virtual Dean’s Forum and Alumni Social with Dr. Richard W. Brinker on Thursday, November 18, as part of the School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences’ 75th Anniversary Celebration.
Dr. Brinker began his Auburn career as an extension forester and assistant professor in 1988 and became an associate professor in 1995. He was promoted to dean, professor, and associate director of the Alabama Agricultural Experiment Station for the School of Forestry in 1998 and served in this role until his retirement in 2011. Among Dr. Brinker’s many achievements, he oversaw the merger of Auburn’s forestry and wildlife sciences programs which became the School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences, and the establishment of the interdisciplinary Center for Forest Sustainability in 1999. He also presided over the fundraising and construction of the state-of-the-art Forestry and Wildlife Sciences Building, completed in 2005.
Dr. Glenn Glover, alumnus and emeritus professor, will serve as moderator of the question-and-answer forum. After the discussion, attendees will have the opportunity to reconnect with other alumni within one of four virtual breakout rooms, grouped into 20-year graduation or enrollment periods: 1947 – 1967, 1968 – 1988, 1989 – 2009, and 2010 – present.
The forum and social is open to faculty, staff, students, and the school’s alumni via Zoom from 6 – 7 p.m. CT at https://auburn.zoom.us/j/88404839239 and will be live-streamed via the school’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/ausfws/live/.
